Location
A Hunt Communications construction team will survey the service area with non-invasive locating equipment to identify utility lines, including existing cable piping. All underground utilities will be clearly marked before any fiber optic construction begins to ensure uninterrupted utility service to residents and the safety of our workers. If aerial work will be required, our team will inspect utility poles in the area prior to installation.

Installation
Our construction team will install the pipe through which the cables will run. Our crew will bore or dig along each street in the area we’re servicing. We will then install the conduit pipe that will contain and protect the cables.
During this stage, residents will observe trucks, signs, construction equipment, and Hunt Communications construction team members on their street. While any construction process is likely to be disruptive to some extent, Hunt Communications makes it a priority to minimize interruptions to daily life for residents within our construction areas.

Cabling
After pipe installation, the Hunt Communications team will pull fiber optic cables through the pipes. This stage of construction includes placing an above-ground “pedestal” over the cables, which protects the network and acts as a general network interface for the serviced neighborhood.
In some cases, Hunt Communications may need to install overhead cables to aerial utility poles. This process requires our crew to pull fiber optic cables to each utility pole on the streets of the service area. While this type of cabling involves less digging than an underground installation, residents will see workers utilizing aerial work platforms (“bucket trucks”) to reach nearby utility poles.

Splicing
The final construction phase is splicing, during which a Hunt Communications team will join (or “splice”) together the fiber optic cables to establish the network. Once splicing is complete, our team will bury the cables and restore the surrounding landscape to its pre-construction state.
After the four stages of construction have been completed, technicians can begin bringing the fiber optic connection to the surrounding homes. During the home installation process, residents will need to be present during their appointment time and give our team members indoor and outdoor access to their homes. Then, all that’s left to do is enjoy your improved service!
